Our Plantation Shutters are made entirely of white poplar, an exceptional hardwood known for its durability. The shutters are milled at O’Hair Shutters in Lubbock, Texas. Other shutter manufacturers rely on an outside source such as a local lumber company for their raw materials. Our manufacturer, however, controls the entire process by using their own kilns. As a result, the wood is air-dried and kiln-dried to a 5-7% moisture content. Our custom Plantation Shutters are designed to fit all shapes and sizes of windows and are available in 1 ¾”, 2 ¼”, 3 ¼”, 4 ¼”, and 5 ¼” louver sizes. We provide a custom finish on all shutters, including paint or stain.

The 1 ¾ louver series is designed for a traditional or “cottage” look. The scale of the narrow louvers is ideal for multiple narrow panels across a single window. Bi-fold hinging of four panels (across) allow for ease of fold-back as opposed to two wider panels. Surface: Smooth Grainselect, Smooth Ultraprime, Sandbrushed Grainselect, Sandbrushed Ultraprime Raised Panels: Up to 3 raised panels per shutter Fixed Louvers: Stationary Louvers, perfect for closets or other interior openings Combo Panels: Fixed of movable louvers in combination with Raised Panels Mid-rails: Available with 1 or 2 mid-rails placed in 1 ½” increments
The 2 ¼ louver series employs the original 2” spacing wide louver design. The scale of the 2 ¼” louvers accommodates small to medium size panels. Two panels across a 3 to 4 ft. window width is well proportioned. Mid-rails acceptable in the design scale if desired for a privacy line. The 3” louver spacing series provides the most flexible design scale with 3 ¼” louvers. Its 3” louver spacing is perfect for wide and tall panels, but not overpowering in smaller panels. Louver clearance at 1 1/8” is workable in wood windows and even French doors with divided lites. The 4 inch louver spacing series with 4 ¼” louvers delivers a strikingly open look. Taller than average windows are preferred venues to compliment the 4” louver spacing. Mid-rails are available, but not recommended (unless required structurally) so as to preserve the unobstructed look.
